Hey everyone, and welcome to another footy blog!

Well let’s just recap from last weekend shall we? What an awesome derby. I’ll admit I was a bit nervous at half-time when scores were level and Freo were coming at us with everything they had.

I don’t know what Woosh said to the boys at the main break, but whatever it was, it worked. The fellas came out guns blazing and demolished the Dockers in spectacular style. I have never been prouder, and a little eagle tear almost came to my eye.

Two very enthusiastic thumbs up to Nic Naitanui and Will Schofield. NicNat took two very speccy marks during the game, one of which has been nominated for mark of the year. And Schoey took a massive run up almost the entire length of the ground to boot a goal, and earned himself a goal of the year nomination. You can vote for NicNat here and vote for Schoey here.

But most importantly, I killed it in the Carlton Mid Derby dance-off against Johnny The Doc Docker. So all in all, a pretty successful weekend was had.

Let’s look ahead! Unfortunately we don’t have young gun Luke Shuey in the team this weekend, but as heartbreaking as that is, it does mean that door has opened up for some of our younger boys who have been in excellent WAFL form and are pushing for a well-deserved game. Koby Stevens, Ashton Hams and Tom Swift have all been named in the list of 25, and I reckon they will do a superb job covering for Shuey.

Last time we met the Lions at the Gabba, we defeated them by eight points. Can we do it again? Coming off the back of our massive derby win, the boys are flying high with confidence. The ladder certainly suggests an easy win for us, with West Coast sitting at the top and Brisbane in 14th place. But after suffering losses to Carlton, Geelong, Essendon, Collingwood and the Kangaroos, Brissie will have a point to prove on their home turf. And with it being Jonathon Brown’s 100th game as captain this weekend, I bet they’re going to want to make the match a memorable one for the skipper.

But let’s face it people, we are in fine form, we’re killing it, so my tip is with the mighty West Coast Eagles this weekend.

Love, Rick.
